Downsizing/Estate Sales
More than a decade in the same five-bedroom home, a blended family with multiple children, and a busy and active lifestyle meant a deep-dive into all areas of the home: the kitchen, bedrooms, office, and basement. There were many categories to create and a great deal to process, not only with our clients, but with their children. We assessed items as small in size as a flash drive and as large as a baby grand piano - in fact, a baby grand piano. We packed LEGO treasures, family memorabilia and personal belongings that would go to their new home and decluttered through multiple strategic community donations. As with most estate sales, the timeline was tight, so our clients wished to take the two-pronged approach of light decluttering, then holding an online auction. This approach was win-win, as they were able to give back to a community they so valued, as well as earn auction profits they put toward moving costs.
We spent small pockets of time reminiscing about and appreciating the meaning of select items in their home – part of their history there. This recognition is such an important step in comfortably moving on to the next chapter.
